I would like to think that in these volatile times I have enough wisdom to pass on to the youth. They will inherit the world we so blatantly disregarded with our greed and apathy. I’d like to think that I can be a positive force in the upbringing and education in my biological children, my two stepsons and my extended clan. There’s a lot of young black men in my family whom I would love to reach and teach. Inform them of the travesty and the majesty of our shared African ancestry. I want them to know that it’s okay to live outside the box. It’s cool being different. It’s okay to be proud of your heritage. And there is certainly nothing wrong with expressing your frustration with the system in a positive way.
I also want my sons, both white, to know that it’s okay to ask questions. Educate…
